I am well on my way ( 15 logged already ) for my 8th sweep. I work lots of special event stations, but none compare with "Route 66 On The Air". I grew up in SE Kansas and had traveled much of "The Mother Road" in the late 40's and early to mid 50's with my parents. I remember keeping out a keen eye trying to spot the next Burma Shave sign before my little Sister did. Thanks for sponsoring this super event. Best regards john, w5pdw

Just stopped by looking for info on the RT66OTA special event. I was monitoring 20m and found W6I, Amarillo, TX. Amarillo, is my old stomping ground as a "buckaroo" and my first introduction to HAM radio, I had to make the QSO. I'm fired up now and will try to work as many RT66OTA stations as I can from VA. Nice web site and keep up the good work on RT66OTA. Claude, KG4HTL Woodbridge Wireless, Woodbridge, VA FM18

You folks are doing a heck of a job managing the pile-ups into your stations during this special event. Thank you for making it available to Amateur class General and above through your frequency selections. What I have not seen is much activity on 80m Phone to help the folks close to the stations that would favor NVIS propogation over the skip conditions that make LA for example hard to work from San Francisco. 73, de KI6CCH aka Rebar

Thanks so much for everyones hard work in the Route 66 Event. It brings a lot of fun to a lot of folks, and I'm sure it means a lot of personal sacrifices both during the week of the event and then the work of getting the cards out, etc. Thanks so much

I really, really like the certificate for this years Route 66 OTA event. It is absolutely beautiful. It's in a frame hanging on my shack wall. I'm proud of working 13 of the 18 stations this year because last year, my first year to participate, I only worked two. I'd been off HF for 20 years and I'm glad to be back. I traveled part of Route 66 with family as a boy and I remember the tourist traps, the brillian neon motel signs and the gas wars (22 cents per gal). I wonder if there is an organization of hams who are Route 66 enthusiasts? I'd like to be a member. In May I plan to trace 66 from Springfield, MO to Tulsa, OK, taking pictures, seeing the sights and talking to people. I will then dedicate a part of my website (www.k5now.org) to my adventures. I looking forward to touring the Mother Road. Thank you for hosting this memorable event! 73 Hal K5NOW

My father is one of the founders of the club. His name is Leon Stricklin - W6HAL. He passed away in Dec. 1998. Just wondering if anyone remembers him. I have a few ol field day photos perhaps the club may want for historical reasons. Happy holidays to all the members there.

Although I couldn't go HF Mobile on 66 this time, I still reached 15 of the 17 stations. Probably due to skip on 20 and 40 meters, I missed two stations, both here in California. Perhaps if I'd tried to reach them on 75, things might have been different? Hmm. Great event anyway, C-BAR-C. Keep up the good work!
